2011 CA Vision Discovery Mission Team Departs Niger Dear Friends and Family, We are about to get on a plane for home. I must say that I have mixed emotions about leaving this place. Niger is hot, dusty, and generally uncomfortable, but in these short days I have fallen in love with the people of Niger. During our debrief session today we each shared about what God has shown us here in Niger. For me, it has been a vision of unity among churches and mission organizations both here in Niger and in the United States. We spent 2 hours sharing, crying, and praying. Our experience in Niger has taught us about the world, God, and ourselves. Today we visited two hospitals. The first was the CURE Children's Hospital, a private Christian organization where children receive care, surgery, and after care for various diseases at 10% of the actual cost. Later we visited the National Hospital in Niamey. there, it was a far different picture. We brought supplies for a laparoscopic surgery machine that was donated to the hospital by a friend of Dennis' last year. This hospital is overcrowded with overwhelming need. It is estimated that there is one doctor for every fifteen thousand patients. We hope that these donations will help meet the need, one patient at a time. Our apologies for the brief nature of this update but we are in the crowded living room of the Johansson family, full of good-byes. From here we head to the airport for the Air France flight 547 from Niamey to Paris. From there, it's home to LAX on flight 066. If you'd like to track our flight home, visit Air France's website and enter our flight numbers. Be Home Soon, The LINK™ CA Vision Discovery Mission |
